Another Deshi (弟子) Workshop Session

 The Australian Bonsai Gallery is proud of our 'Deshi' who seems to be able to source some incredible old stock to challenge himself with.!!

The transformation of this old stock plant was the most challenging yet, taking the best part of a day to complete the initial styling.

This tree is large.!! With a trunk diameter above the nebari of ~200mm.

As indicated by the red line, the main branch required some significant bending and had to be maintained in situ with a ratchet strap.

Other branches required 'V-notching', guy wires and heavy wiring.

This tree is now well on it's way to becoming a classic bonsai.!
